Our little Zeke turned 4 months this month, so off to the doctor we went for his 4 month baby well visit. It was so NOT fun. I cried. He cried. But at the end, we were happy to know we have a healthy little boy who is a bit on the chunky side.

Moms have meltdowns too people!
It’s Monday and some crazy is going on in the cosmic universe surrounding me because it’s been one thing cruddy after another.
It took 4 months, but todayI had my first major mommy meltdown since having 4 kids.

From a baby who seems to be teething to a toddler who has a new love for playing in the toilet, today I thought would be the day my head would explode. But instead of exploding, I broke down with a nasty attitude followed by a good cry. Hello mommy meltdown!

Call me paranoid or call me a stalker. Whatever I am, I have a problem.
I stare at my baby while he sleeps.
I don’t know if it’s some underlying fear that he’s not breathing or if it’s just my love for the sweetness of a calm sleeping child. It’s weird. It’s compulsive. I can’t help it!

What is croup?
While I like to think of croup as some ugly evil monster that has stolen my babies for the last few weeks, it is actually an infection in the upper airway that leads to swelling inside the throat. This nasty monster interferes with normal breathing and creates a barking type sound when your child coughs.
It’s ugly. It’s scary. I hate it. Now 3 of them kids have been attacked by it!
Nothing is worse then having to run to the closest 24-hour store (which is usually not very close!) to pick up this or that when your kids are sick.

Typically you hear about the crazy from various protests of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) activists, but not this time. PETA has stepped up with a push for breastfeeding.
You may have heard about Natalie Hegedus, a Michigan mom who was reportedly “called out” by a judge for breastfeeding in a courtroom, leaving her humiliated and in tears. PETA jumped to support Natalie and other moms by placing the following pro-breastfeeding billboard near the Paw Paw courtroom where the incident occurred.
After chatting with a group of moms that all happen to have 1 child each, under the age of 3 – it hit me. They have no idea what will become of their sweet child.
As a first time parent, I was in the same boat. I had no idea what the realities of the next several years would be.
Before I go further, know this – I am an optimist at heart but what I am about to say sounds like a total Debbie Downer.
That sweet child won’t be sweet forever.
